President of the Georgia State Youth Gospel Singing Convention in 2001 and 2007, Joel returns to serve a third presidential term for the 2008 session of the convention.

A native of Conyers, Georgia, Joel holds music degrees from Georgia College & State University (BME), Columbus State University (MM), and Auburn University (ED.S.). Currently he teaches chorus at Eastside High School in Covington, Georgia. In addition, Joel has served as Minister of Music and Associate Pastor at North Rockdale Baptist Church since May 2003.

Joel has been involved with convention singing his entire life. Joel has served as president of the DeKalb, Gwinnett and Rockdale County Singing conventions. He attended the North Georgia School of Gospel music for ten years, the Alabama School of Gospel music for one year, and the Ben Speer School of Gospel music for three years. He has been an instructor on the staff of the Cumberland Valley School of Gospel Music since 2002 and also serves as the Vice President.

Joel is married to Lewissa Singleton, a fifth-grade teacher at Youth Elementary School in Loganville, Georgia.
